6/9/26 – I am almost out of honey, but I am hopeful that I can do my first 2026 harvest later this week. Keep your fingers crossed! The bees are doing well, after a tough winter, but the crazy up and down spring temperatures had me guessing when I would be able to start taking honey. I am anxious and excited to see the start of the 2026 season. I hope you are too! Once I start harvesting, I will post about it here, and will be back at markets!
The days (and nights) are now warm enough that I have put honey back into the hut. I have a bit of most everything I have left out there, but at the moment, “everything I have left” totals 1 honey bear, 10 8 oz jars and 10 tasting flights, so it won’t be long before those are gone. I do have a bit of creamed honey left but it doesn’t go into the hut, as it melts in the heat. I will bring what I have of that to my farmers markets when I start back.
Becky’s Birds and Bees is a small apiary business harvesting and selling local honey produced by bees raised in SE Michigan. I hope you will use my web site to learn more about me, the farm and beekeeping in general. Look for information about my beekeeping philosophy and my honey at the About and Honey tabs, learn about the land I am beekeeping on at the Green Acres tab, and read stories about the happenings of the farm, and about beekeeping, at the Farm Stories tab. I sell honey from a self service stand at the farm when the weather is warm enough to keep it out. I will also sell at 3 farmers markets, Dexter, Chelsea and Whitmore Lake once I start my 2026 harvest.
Looking to buy other local produce? Here is a great resource!

If you are wondering about the ‘birds’ I also raise free range chickens and have added a handful of ducks, who are happily occupying my neighbors pond (with their permission, of course!) At this time I have enough established eggs customers to use all the eggs I am producing but occasionally a customer drops off, so if you would like to be on a waiting list, let me know.
